Alignment Procedure
- Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module - Remove - Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module Removal and Installation
- Mode Control Cam - Remove - Mode Control Cam Replacement (C67) Mode Control Cam Replacement (C60 Heater Cam) Mode Control Cam Replacement (C60 Mode Cam)
Remove the mode cam screw (1) and the mode cam (2) from the heater and air conditioning evaporator and blower module.
- Inspect the mode valve levers and internal vent valve operation prior to installing the new mode control cam.
- Replace the components affecting the proper operation of the vent valves.
Rotate the defrost valve lever (1), and vent valve lever (2) clockwise, and heater valve lever (3) counter clockwise to the position shown.
- Using a small brush, apply a lithium based lubricant to the channels of the heater cam, and the mode cam where the levers travel.
Install the heater cam (1) aligning the channel on the back side heater cam with the heater valve lever pin (2).
- Install the mode control cable end (3) into the heater cam, aligning the large male tooth gear on the mode control cable end with the larger heater cam female tooth gear as indicated by the arrows (4).
- Install the mode control cable retaining screw (5) and tighten to 2.0 N.m (18 lb in).
- NOTE:
If the heater cam is not aligned to heater valve lever pin correctly, the mode control knob will not function properly.
Turn the control knob on the heater and air conditioning control to the vent mode position as indicated by the lead line (1).
Install the mode cam (1) aligning the channels on the back side mode cam with the defroster valve lever pin (2), and the vent valve lever pin (3). The pins should be visible through the inspection windows.
- Verify that the large female tooth on the mode cam (4) is aligned with the large male tooth (5) on the heater cam.
- Install the heater and air conditioning mode control cam bolt (6) and tighten to 2.0 N.m (18 lb in).
