Retained Accessory Power (Rap)

The Retained Accessory Power (RAP) System provides power to operate several vehicle accessories after the Ignition Switch was in RUN and then turned to OFF or LOCK, but before any door is opened.

Voltage is applied at all times to the coils of RAP Relay 1 and RAP Relay 2. When the Ignition is turned to RUN, the BCM senses that the Ignition is in RUN and grounds the Relay coils at BCM RAP Relay 1 and RAP Relay 2 coils are now energized and the contacts close. Voltage is now applied through RAP Relay 1 and RAP Relay 2 to CKTs 4 and 76.

When the ignition is turned to OFF or LOCK, the BCM will keep the Relays energized for ten minutes unless a door is opened. If a door is opened, the Door Jamb Switch closes and the BCM Door Jamb Input is grounded. The BCM will now disconnect the Relay coils from ground.
