Section 12 (Disc Brake System): Description
The dual hydraulic brake system is a conventional pedal-actuated system with a master cylinder, proportioning valves, combination valve, fluid level sensor, brake calipers or wheel cylinders and brake hoses and tubes. Hydraulic brake line routing is diagonally split front to rear for safety reasons.
Master cylinder incorporates a fluid level sensor, integral proportioning valves and combination valve (if equipped). Proportioning valves are threaded into master cylinder and combination valve is external.
Proportioning valves limit outlet pressure to rear brakes after a predetermined rear input pressure has been reached. Combination valve limits pressure to front disc brakes until predetermined front pressure is reached (if equipped).
Proportioning section of combination valve proportions outlet pressure to rear brakes after a predetermined rear inlet pressure has been reached. Composite master cylinders are equipped with a fluid level sensor located in side of reservoir.
