Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

NOTE: All testing procedures are made with engine at normal operating temperature. TPS is not adjustable. For further testing procedures for DeVille and Fleetwood, see TESTS W/CODES article or SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article in this section. For Eldorado and Seville, refer to TESTS W/CODES article or SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article in this section.
  1. Turn ignition on with engine off. Install TPS Jumper Harness (J-38490), and connect DVOM. Enter diagnostic mode, and select PCM override E.5.3. or ES03 (ISC motor). Refer to TESTS W/CODES (for DeVille and Fleetwood) or TESTS W/CODES (for Eldorado and Seville) article in this section.
  2. Press COOLER button to retract ISC motor to minimum air setting. Loosen TPS screws enough to permit sensor rotation. Open throttle slightly, and allow throttle lever to snap shut against minimum air screw.
  3. Adjust TPS. See TPS ADJUSTMENT VOLTAGE  . Tighten TPS mounting screws. Recheck voltage reading.
