SERVICE INFORMATION

This bulletin is being issued to revise the 1998 and 1999 Service Manual Heater Module Replacement procedure and the 2000 Service Manual Heated Seat Control Module - Front Replacement procedure in the Seats sub-section.

Revise the text to read as follows:

Heater Module/Heated Seat Control Module - Front Replacement Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in the Cautions and Notices sub-section of the Service Manual.

Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR.

    Refer to Disabling the SIR System in the Restraints sub-section of the Service Manual.

  2. Adjust the front seat assembly up and forward in order to access the fasteners (1) at the rear of the front seat cushion assembly.
  3. Remove the front seat cushion assembly fasteners (1) at the rear of the seat cushion.

  4. Adjust the front seat assembly to the rear of the vehicle.
  5. Angle the front of the front seat cushion (1) up in order to access the front seat cushion assembly fasteners (2).
  6. Remove the front seat cushion assembly fasteners (2).
  7. Lift the front seat cushion assembly (1) away from the seat riser.
    IMPORTANT: The heated seat cushion cover connectors and several wire hold down clips will need to be removed in order to position the seat cushion against the seat back.
  8. Reposition the seat cushion assembly (1) against the seat back in order to access the heated seat module rivets and the electrical connectors.

  9. Disconnect the heated seat module electrical connector.

    IMPORTANT: Cover the seat motors and cables in order to avoid metal shavings in the mechanism.
    CAUTION: Eye protection must be worn when drilling rivets to reduce the chance of personal injury.
  10. Drill out the rivets (2) retaining the heated seat module (1) to the seat cushion frame.
  11. Remove the heated seat module (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heated seat module (1) to the seat cushion frame.
  2. Install new rivets (2) to the heated seat module (1) in order to retain the heated seat module to the seat cushion frame.

  3. Connect the electrical connector to the heated seat module.
  4. Connect the heated seat cushion cover electrical connectors and the wire hold down clips which were removed during disassembly.

  5. Remove the protective cover from the seat riser.
  6. Install the seat cushion assembly (1) to the seat riser.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Cautions and Notices sub-section of the Service Manual.
  7. Install the front fasteners (2) to the seat cushion assembly (1).

  8. Adjust the front seat assembly up and forward in order to access the fasteners (1) at the rear of the front seat cushion assembly.
  9. Install the front seat cushion assembly rear fasteners (1) to the seat cushion assembly.

    Tighten:   Tighten the seat cushion assembly rear fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  10. Angle the front of the front seat cushion up in order to access the front seat cushion assembly fasteners.

    Tighten:   Tighten the seat cushion assembly front fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  11. Enable the SIR.
