Charge Indicator Always On
- Check battery. Charge or replace as necessary. Go to next step.
- Check generator. See GENERATOR FUNCTIONAL CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS. Repair or replace as necessary. See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Start engine and run at fast idle. Disconnect battery thermistor, located next to battery. Using DVOM, check battery voltage. If 13-16 volts exists, go to next step. If 13-16 volts does not exist, go to step 7 .
- Turn ignition off. Check voltage at battery voltage thermistor connector terminal "A" (Orange wire). If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts does not exist, check DIM (10-amp) fuse and Orange wire for open or short to ground. Repair as necessary. Recheck system.
- Disconnect generator connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between harness connector terminal "D" (Light Blue wire) and ground. Check continuity between battery thermistor connector terminal "B" (Light Blue wire) and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open on Light Blue wire. Recheck system.
- Check battery thermistor connector. Clean or repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace thermistor. Recheck system.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Blue PCM connector C1. Turn ignition on. If indicator is not on, go to next step. If indicator is still on, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect all connectors and recheck system.
- Check PCM connector terminals No. 54 and 75. Clean or repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace PCM. Replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system.
