Section 5 (Power Window System): Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Cadillac Seville and 1999 Cadillac Seville. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

A permanent-magnet motor operates each power window. Each motor raises and lowers window when voltage is supplied by door module. Motor direction depends on polarity of supply voltage. Switches control supply voltage polarity.

Vehicle door system functions (windows, door locks, mirrors, etc.) are controlled directly by 5 modules, Driver Door Module (DDM), Right Front Door Module (RFDM), Left Rear Door Module (LRDM), Right Rear Door Module (RRDM) and master switch assembly assembly. All modules communicate with other modules on Simple Bus Interface (SBI) line. DDM is capable of communication over both SBI and class 2 data line.
