Powertrain Control Module Relearn

- Ensure battery is charged, ignition is on, battery/cigarette lighter and DLC connections are secure. Perform the programming procedure. Refer to up-to-date Techline terminal/equipment for instructions.
- Perform relearn procedures for anti-theft system. See PROGRAMMING in appropriate ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- After vehicle has been programmed, operate vehicle until coolant temperature is greater than 170°F (77°C). This allows TDC offset to be programmed automatically.
- If PCM is only being reprogrammed, it maybe necessary to program PCM with glow plug information. See GLOW PLUG SYSTEM TYPE RELEARN .
- If PCM fails to reprogram, check PCM connections and check Techline terminal/equipment for latest software version. Attempt reprogramming PCM. If reprogramming fails again, replace PCM.
