Transmitter Synchronization

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 GMC Sierra and 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Resynchronization may be necessary due to security method used by Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system. The transmitter does not send same signal twice to receiver. The receiver will not respond to a signal which has been previously sent. This prevents anyone from recording and playing back signal from transmitter. Resynchronization will necessary if any of following are true:

In order to resynchronize transmitter with receiver, perform the following steps:

  1. Stand close to vehicle.
  2. Simultaneously press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on transmitter for 7 seconds.

The door locks should cycle to confirm resynchronization.
