Charge Indicator Inoperative

  1. Check battery. Charge or replace as necessary. Check generator. Replace as necessary. See GENERATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
  2. Disconnect generator connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between harness connector terminal "B" (Red wire) and ground. Turn ignition on. If indicator is not on, go to next step. If indicator is on, go to step  4 .
  3. Disconnect PCM connector C1. Connect fused jumper wire between harness connector C1 terminal No. 75 (Red wire) and ground. If indicator does not illuminate, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect all connectors and recheck system. If indicator illuminates, check generator connector and Red wire between generator and PCM for open circuit. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, go to step  5 .
  4. Check generator connector and Red wire between generator and PCM for open circuit. Repair as necessary. Recheck system. If no problem is found, go to next step.
  5. Check PCM connector C1. Clean or repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system.
