Remote Keyless Entry Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument cluster. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to communicate with Driver Door Module (DDM), Passenger Front Door Module (PFDM), Left Middle Door Module (LMDM), Right Middle Door Module (RMDM) Left Rear Door Module (LRDM), Right Rear Door Module (RRDM), Dash Integration Module (DIM), Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), Rear Integration Module (RIM) and Diversity Antenna Module. If scan tool communicates with all modules listed, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with all modules listed, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
  3. Using scan tool, select DISPLAY function and retrieve any DTCs for modules listed in step  2 . If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair remote keyless entry system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  under SYMPTOM TESTS.
  4. If scan tool does not display any DTCs that begin with "U", go to next step. If scan tool displays any DTCs that begin with "U", diagnose communication problem. See SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
  5. If scan tool does not display DTC B1000, B1004, B1007, B1009, B1013 or B1014, go to next step. If scan tool displays DTC B1000, B1004, B1007, B1009, B1013 or B1014 perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
  6. If scan tool displays DTC B1327 or B1328, repair engine electrical concern, See appropriate GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If scan tool displays any other DTCs, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  .
