DTC B1009: Control Module Checksum Error: Testing

  1. If diagnostic system check for system exhibiting symptom has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check for system exhibiting symptom has not been performed, perform appropriate diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, on hood release bracket. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTCs are retrieved as current, go to next step. If DTCs are not retrieved as current, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  3. Replace suspect module, then go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle to verify repair. If DTCs reset, repeat test beginning at step  2 .
