DTC B1658: Body Control Module Checksum Error: Testing

  1. If diagnostic system check for system exhibiting symptom has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check for system exhibiting symptom has not been performed, perform appropriate diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, on hood release bracket. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, retrieved DTCs. If DTC is retrieved as a current, go to next step. If DTC is not retrieved as a current, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  3. Replace suspect module, then go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle to verify repair. If DTC does not reset, system is operating correctly at this time. If DTC resets, repeat test beginning at step  2 .
