DTC P1566: Powertrain Control Module Detects High Engine Speed: Description

Cruise Control Module (CCM) uses cruise engaged circuit to request cruise control. If improper condition exists, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will disable cruise control through cruise inhibit control circuit. During cruise control, if engine speed exceeds calibrated RPM, PCM will inhibit cruise control system and store DTC P1566. PCM detects an engine speed more than 6300 RPM. PCM will not illuminate Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). PCM will store conditions present when DTC set as failure record data only. A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles have occurred without a malfunction. A scan tool can be used to clear DTC.
