DTC P1566: Powertrain Control Module Detects High Engine Speed: Testing
- If cruise control diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If cruise control diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform CRUISE CONTROL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- If no Anti-Lock Brake System/Traction Control System (ABS/TCS) DTCs are retrieved, go to next step. If any ABS DTCs are retrieved, repair anti-lock brake DTCs first. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
- If no transaxle DTCs are retrieved, go to next step. If any transaxle DTCs are retrieved, repair transaxle DTCs first. See appropriate ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
- Verify with customer conditions which stored DTC. If excessive engine RPM condition stored DTC, go to next step. If excessive engine RPM condition did not store DTC, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Explain system operation to customer, and clear DTCs. System should operate normally at this time.
