Adaptive Control
At beginning of 2001 model year production, driver's and passenger's adaptive seat feature automatically activates with ignition switch turned to RUN position. During production, feature was changed from automatic activation to manual activation. To manually activate adaptive seat feature, momentarily press lumbar switch where it is marked AUTO/ON. When AUTO/ON switch is pressed, battery voltage is applied through switch contacts and adaptive seat switch auto/on signal circuit to adaptive lumbar module. In response to this signal, module will inflate seat bladders as described in manual control, take a reading, then automatically adjust comfort level to occupant by releasing air from bladders or adding air to bladders when needed. Adaptive lumbar module will check position of occupant every 4 minutes. If occupant has moved, adaptive lumbar module will then automatically adjust amount of air to new position of occupant. If adaptive function is not desired, driver's or passenger's must manually deactivate or turn off system. System is turned off by pressing lumbar switch down to off position. Battery voltage is then applied through switch contacts and adaptive seat off switch signal circuit to module. In response to this signal, adaptive lumbar module will release all air from bladders.
