Keyless Entry - Remote Transmitter Malfunctions

Bulletin No.: 02-08-52-004C

Date: April 02, 2004

TECHNICAL

Subject:
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Does Not Function Properly/Inoperative (Replace Radio (Diversity) Antenna Module)

Models:
2003 Cadillac CTS

Built Prior To VIN Breakpoint 30148160

Supercede:

This bulletin is being revised to add a VIN breakpoint and updated part number information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 02-08-52-004B (Section 8 - Body & Accessories).

Condition

Some customers may comment that the RKE key fob will not function unless they are close to the vehicle. In some cases, the system may not function at all. This condition is intermittent and location specific.

Cause

When the vehicle is close to a high power transmitter (large radio or TV station) around 105.5 MHz (TV channels 11-14), the RKE receiver is overloaded by the harmonics of the broadcaster's signal and does not properly detect the signal from the low power RKE fob.

Correction

Engineering has corrected the condition by modifying the current radio antenna module assembly. Replace the existing radio antenna module with P/N 12233252. Refer to Antenna Module Replacement procedure in the Entertainment sub-section of the Service Manual.
