Circuit/System Testing
- Inspect the air intake system for the following conditions:
- Any modifications, damage, or restrictions
- A dirty or deteriorating air filter element
- The crankcase ventilation system for incorrect operation.
- Water intrusion
- A vacuum leak and other unmetered air downstream of the MAF sensor
- Any intake manifold leaks
- The sensors that monitor the air flow through the engine should be thoroughly inspected for the following conditions:
- Foreign objects blocking on the air inlet of the MAF sensor
- MAF sensing element contamination
- Intermittent MAF sensor harness and terminal connections
- MAP sensor seal that is missing, misaligned, or damaged
- MAP sensor that is skewed or stuck
- Inspect the exhaust system for the following conditions:
- Water intrusion
- An exhaust leak
- Any damage, restrictions, modifications or enhancements to the exhaust system
- Inspect the engine mechanical for items that could alter the air flow into the combustion chamber.
