Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) Reprogramming
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2011 GMC Yukon XL, 2011 GMC Yukon, 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2011 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
When BECM Reprogramming must be performed, refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Ensure the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BECM programming or reprogramming:
- The battery is fully charged.
- The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
- The Techline equipment cable connection at the data link connector (DLC) is secure.
Program the BECM using the latest software matching the vehicle. Refer to up-to-date Techline equipment user instructions.
If the BECM fails to program, proceed as follows:
- Ensure the DLC and BECM connections are good.
- Inspect the Techline equipment for the latest software version.
- Attempt to program the BECM. If the BECM still cannot be programmed properly, replace the BECM.
IMPORTANT:
If the DLC connection or the control module programming sequence is disrupted during a programming event the BECM may stop communicating, it will be necessary to remove and reinstall the BECM power fuse to re-establish communications with the BECM. Control module programming can then be re-initiated.
