Inflatable Restraint Front End Sensor Replacement

Callout Component Name
WARNING: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Before applying power to the front end sensor make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
WARNING: Refer to SIR Warning .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
1 Supplemental Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Bolt (Qty: 2)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure

  1. Loosen the bolts and slide the sensors out of the keyhole slots.
  2. The bolts are integral to the sensor assembly and DO NOT remove separately.

Tighten:  8 N.m (71 lb in)

2 Supplemental Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Assembly (Qty: 2)

Procedure

  1. Remove connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  2. Disconnect electrical connector.
