Installation Procedure

    IMPORTANT:

Proper installation of the air tube to air tube fitting is critical to prevent air leaks. Follow all steps to ensure proper installation.

  1. The NEW service fitting (2) comes with a shipping plug (1) installed, DO NOT remove prior to installing the fitting.
  2. CAUTION:

Do NOT exceed the torque value on the air supply fitting, over tightening may cause the plastic threads in the air compressor or the air spring to become stripped, permanently damaging the air spring compressor or air spring.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the new service fittings into either the rear air spring compressor or the rear air spring and tighten to 2 (18 lb in) .

  5. Remove the shipping plug (1) from the new service fitting (2).
  6. Install the air compressor tube assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Automatic Level Control Air Compressor Tube Replacement
  7. If the air tube at the compressor does not have a flare in the tube , measure the distance from the flare to the end of the air tube at the air spring side. Mark the air tube at the air compressor the same distance. This is a reference mark to ensure you are installing the tube far enough into the fitting.

  9. Push the air tube (1) into the fitting (2) until it is fully bottomed out in the fitting. This distance between the flare or mark in the line and the air tube fitting should be between 0.5 - 3 mm . If the distance is larger, the tube is not fully seated. Continue to insert tube into fitting until fully seated.
  10. After the tube is fully inserted, pull outward on the air tube, seating the air tube into the fitting.
    CAUTION:

Do NOT pressurize the air springs/shocks under load or damage to the air spring/shocks will occur. Always pressurize the system with the wheels of the vehicle off the ground.

  11. Lower the, but DO NOT allow the 4 tire assemblies to touch the ground.
  12. Pressurize the air suspension system. Refer to Air Suspension System Depressurization and Pressurization .
  13. Continue to lower the vehicle to load the suspension.
  14. Start and run the vehicle for approximately (1) minute or until the compressor stops running, to ensure the air spring is completely pressurized and functioning properly.
  15. Raise the vehicle and with a squirt bottle filled with a soapy solution, check the air compressor fittings and air spring fittings for leaks.
  16. Lower the vehicle.
