Thermostatic Switch
The temperature of system is controlled by intermittently running compressor. Compressor is turned on and off as necessary to maintain desired temperature. The electromagnetic clutch is controlled by a thermostatic switch. The switch consists of a metal tube containing a highly expansive gas. The tube is in constant contact with the evaporator inlet line. As the air temperature rises, the gas in tube expands and travels through the tube to a bellows. As bellows expand, the electrical switch which engages clutch is closed and the compressor starts running. As temperature begins to drop, the gas in tube reduces pressure on bellows. As desired temperature is reached, the switch contacts open and compressor clutch disengages.
