The relief valve may be serviced separately only if incorporated into the air pump. If the relief valve is incorporated into the diverter valve, the diverter valve must be replaced.

1. Using suitable puller, remove relief valve from pump assembly, Fig. 7.
2. Lightly tap new relief valve into pump housing until valve shoulders on housing. Lightly tap new relief valve into pump housing until valve shoulders on housing.

^ Various length pressure setting plugs designed for the particular requirements of the vehicle being serviced determine the pressure required to open the relief valve. Usually, the pressure setting plugs are color coded. To remove the pressure setting plug, Fig. 8, carefully unlock the legs from the inside surface of the relief valve with a small screwdriver. To install the plug, carefully push it into the relief valve until the legs lock into place.
