Trouble Code Memory

When a problem develops in the system, the ``Check Engine'' or ``Service Engine Soon'' light will illuminate and a trouble code will be set in the ECM memory. If the problem is intermittent, the ``Check Engine'' or ``Service Engine Soon'' light will turn off after approximately ten seconds after the fault goes away. The trouble code, however, will be retained in the ECM memory until battery voltage to the ECM is removed. To clear all stored trouble codes, disconnect battery positive cable for ten seconds and reconnect.
