Vacuum Advance

  1. Distributor advance is controlled by negative air pressure from the vacuum advance port of the carburetor. During normal operation, negative air pressure exerted by advance unit "A" of the carburetor is sufficient to regulate vacuum advance.
  2. To check for proper operation, remove vacuum line to distributor and install a hand vacuum pump. Apply vacuum and ensure that vacuum advance moves. If not, repair or replace as necessary.
