July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Hydraulic System Bleeding

NOTE: If air was introduced into hydraulic system during servicing, system must be bled. Aerated fluid, which appears Light Tan in color, results in poor steering performance and may cause pump damage.
  1. Raise and support vehicle with engine off. Turn front wheels to full left position. Fill reservoir to FULL COLD mark. Turn front wheels from side to side several times without hitting stops. Maintain fluid level at FULL COLD mark. When fluid is clear and free of bubbles, start engine and recheck fluid level. Add fluid as necessary.
  2. Return front wheels to center position and lower vehicle. Allow vehicle to idle for 2-3 minutes. Road test vehicle to ensure power steering is functioning properly. After road test, check that fluid level is at FULL HOT mark. Check system for leaks.
