Fuel Rail Transfer Line: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe end.
  1. Properly position the fuel transfer line assembly. Install the transfer line assembly with an "O" ring seal to fuel rail assembly and hand tighten. Connect the fuel rail bracket and nut to the cylinder head. Tighten the fuel line bracket-to-cylinder head bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Tighten the transfer line fitting at fuel rail. Tighten the fuel transfer line fitting-to-fuel rail to specification. Insert the fuel transfer line into the fuel line connection. An audible click should be heard. Pull rearward to fully seat the connection.
  3. Remove the shop towel from the throttle body. Connect any electrical harness or hoses that have been disconnected from the transfer line.
  4. Install the outlet resonator/duct assembly. See AIR CLEANER OUTLET RESONATOR/DUCT ASSEMBLY  under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten the battery terminal bolts to specification. Reset all preset radio stations and set clock to correct time.


CAUTION: Always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe end.
  1. Install the fuel transfer line into position. Hand tighten both fuel transfer line fittings to fuel rails. Tighten the fuel transfer line fittings-to-fuel rail to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Install the fuel line bracket to manifold. Tighten the fuel line bracket-to-manifold bolt to specification. Install the intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD & SPACER (3.0L)  under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS.
  3. Install the fuel transfer line bracket bolt intake manifold. Tighten the fuel transfer line bracket bolt-to-intake to specification.
  4. Install the outlet resonator/duct assembly bracket to manifold. Install the outlet resonator/duct assembly bracket nuts. Tighten the outlet resonator/duct assembly bracket-to-intake manifold nuts to specification.
  5. Connect the fuel line to fuel transfer line. An audible click can be heard when the fuel line is installed. Slightly pull rearward on the line to assure the connection is fully seated.
  6. Install the outlet resonator/duct assembly. See AIR CLEANER OUTLET RESONATOR/DUCT ASSEMBLY  under AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten the battery terminal bolts to specification.
  7. Cycle ignition on for 5 seconds and then off for 10 seconds. Repeat twice. Crank engine until it starts. Maximum starter motor cranking time is 20 seconds.
  8. If engine does not start, repeat step  7 . Run engine and check system for leaks. Reset all preset radio stations and set clock to correct time.
