Test C: Retained Accessory Power On After Time-Out: Testing

  1. If retained accessory power diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If retained accessory power diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS.
  2. Install a scan tool. With scan tool observe driver and passenger door jamb switches. Open and close each door. If scan tool displays a change from ACTIVE to INACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool display does not change from ACTIVE to INACTIVE, see LIGHTING SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  3. Close all doors. Turn ignition switch to ON position, then to OFF position. With scan tool, observe RAP timer. RAP timer should count down. If timer counted down, go to next step. If timer did not counted down, go to step  7 .
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, disconnect BCM harness connector C1 (Brown). See Figure . If RAP relay did not deactivate, go to next step. If RAP relay did deactivate, go to step  7 .
  5. Remove RAP relay, RAP relay is located under left side of dash on data link connector bracket facing cowl, also referred to as Relay Block No. 2. See Figure . Disconnect BCM harness connector C1 (Brown). Using DVOM, check for continuity between BCM harness connector C1 (Brown) terminal A7 and ground. If continuity exist, repair as necessary short to ground in Black wire between A7 and terminal No. 1 of RAP relay (circuit No. 755). Go to step  9 . If no continuity exist, go to next step.
  6. Replace RAP relay. After repairs are made, go to step  9 .
  7. Check for poor, loose or corroded connections at all three BCM harness connectors. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  9 .
  8. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair are made, program body control module. See PROGRAMMING  . After programming, go to step  14 .
  9. Operate RAP system to verify repair. If no problem is found, testing is complete. If problem is found, go to step  2 .
