Transmitter Test

NOTE: Ensure that transmitter is correct model for Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system. Wrong transmitter will pass test, but will not work with vehicle.
  1. Turn on Keyless Entry Tester (J-43241). Place transmitter on keyless entry tester pad and press each button on transmitter. Tone should sound and Green light should light on keyless entry tester when each button is pressed. If keyless entry tester does not respond as specified, go to next step. If keyless entry tester responds as specified, go to step  6 .
  2. If no buttons cause tone to sound and Green light to light on keyless entry tester, go to next step. If any buttons cause tone to sound and Green light to light on keyless entry tester, go to step  5 .
  3. Replace transmitter battery, and go to next step.
  4. Place transmitter on keyless entry tester pad and press each button on transmitter. Tone should sound and Green light should light on keyless entry tester when each button is pressed. If keyless entry tester does not respond as specified, go to next step. If keyless entry tester responds as specified, go to step  6 .
  5. Replace transmitter. Go to step  7 .
  6. Synchronize transmitter. See TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING. If transmitter did not synchronize properly, go to next step. If transmitter synchronized properly, recheck system.
  7. Program transmitters. See PROGRAMMING  . If programming was successful, recheck system. If programming was not successful, see TEST K: KEYLESS ENTRY DOES NOT PROGRAM (BASE)  or TEST L: KEYLESS ENTRY DOES NOT PROGRAM (LUXURY)  .
