Manual Transmission Clutches: Bleeding

CAUTION: Do not use fluid bled from a system to fill reservoir. Fluid may be aerated or contaminated. Ensure no air is drawn into clutch hydraulic system during bleeding procedure.

Fill reservoir with NEW DOT 3 brake fluid. Depress clutch pedal and hold. Open bleed screw on clutch slave cylinder to bleed air. Close bleed screw, and then release clutch pedal. Repeat procedure until all air is bled from clutch hydraulic system. Check and refill reservoir as necessary while bleeding. After bleeding, pump clutch pedal several times. If clutch engagement is not satisfactory, repeat bleeding procedure.
