Throttle Position Sensor

PCM supplies Throttle Position (TP) sensor with a 5-volt reference signal. TP sensor contains a potentiometer and idle switch. TP sensor sends an output signal to PCM corresponding to opening of throttle valve.

PCM uses these signals to control air/fuel ratio during acceleration, deceleration and idling. These signals are also used to determine idle speed and control EGR solenoid vacuum valve. On Metro A/T, PCM also uses TP signal for automatic transaxle control. For component locations, see Figure or Figure .
