Powertrain Control Module: Installation

NOTE: Do not touch connector pins or soldered components on circuit board in order to prevent possible electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to PCM.
NOTE: Use correct fastener in correct location. Replacement fasteners must be correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage fastener. Use correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  1. Connect 3 PCM wiring harness electrical connectors to PCM.
  2. Install PCM into console carriage.
  3. Secure PCM with 3 bolts. Tighten PCM bracket bolts to 15 N.m (11 ft. lbs.).
  4. Install front floor console.
  5. Secure upper portion of front floor console with 2 screws.
  6. Install center console to front floor console.
  7. Secure center console with 2 bolts.
  8. Secure front floor console and center console with 2 screws.
  9. Install shifter trim plate (1) to front floor console (2) (A/T only). See Figure .
  10. Install manual shifter boot (2) over shifter lever and secure to front floor console (1) (M/T only). See Figure .
  11. Install shifter knob (3) onto shifter lever (M/T only).
  12. Install radio (2), if equipped. See Figure .
  13. Install center trim panel (1).
  14. Install left side knee bolster (3). See Figure .
  15. Install left knee bolster trim panel (4).
  16. Install console support bracket (2).
  17. Install glove box (1).
  18. Connect negative battery cable.
  19. Enable Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
