30-Minute Relearn Procedure

CAUTION: If valet key (Gray) is learned before master PK3 key (Black), PK3 module will not allow additional keys to be learned.
NOTE: 30-minute relearn procedure is not available on vehicles equipped with Regular Production Option (RPO) code BAE or Z49. RPO codes, also known as vehicle option content codes, are printed on service parts identification label, located on inside of left quarter trim access panel. See Figure and Figure .
  1. Using a master PK3 key, turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off. SECURITY indicator should come on for about 10 minutes, then turn off. When indicator turns off, turn ignition switch to LOCK position for 5 seconds.
  2. Repeat previous step 2 more times, for a total of 3 ignition cycles. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and wait 5 seconds. Using master PK3 key, start vehicle. PK3 module has now learned key transponder information and powertrain control module has now learned fuel continue password. Using scan tool, clear DTCs.
