Body Control Module: Notes

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
CAUTION: Use correct fastener in correct location. Replacement fasteners must be correct part number for application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in service procedures. DO NOT use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage fastener. Use correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to part and systems.
NOTE: After Body Control Module (BCM) is replaced, feature customization settings will automatically resort to default settings. Feature customization settings will need to be programmed as needed. See ENTER FEATURE CUSTOMIZATION MODE  under PROGRAMMING.
NOTE: On models with factory installed Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) anit-theft system, ensure replacement BCM type 4 is installed. Feature customization settings must be programmed. See ENTER FEATURE CUSTOMIZATION MODE  under PROGRAMMING.
