Test B: Lighting Systems Faults: Testing
- If lighting diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform lighting diagnostic system check. See LIGHTING DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If lighting diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step.
- Operate suspect system. If system does not operate properly, go to next step. If system operates properly, system is okay.
- Ensure any aftermarket electronic equipment is properly installed. Visually inspect easily accessible or readily visible system components for obvious signs of electrical and/or mechanical damage which could cause symptom. If no fault is found, go to next step. If fault is found, repair as necessary and retest system operation.
- Inspect for, loose or corroded connections, or damaged wiring harnesses which could cause an intermittent fault. Pay special attention to harness routing where wires are hinged or make sharp bends. If fault is not found, go to next step. If fault is found, repair as necessary and retest system operation.
- Use appropriate wiring diagram in appropriate article for lighting system involved and test ground and power feed circuits for proper values. If problem is found, repair as necessary and retest system operation. If problem is not found, go to step 2 .
