Body Control Module
Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system is an internal function of Body Control Module (BCM) which utilizes various switch input information to perform CTD functions. When BCM detects an unauthorized entry, it activates horns and exterior lights. BCM has 5 basic modes (disarmed, standby, delayed, armed, and alarm) for operating CTD system. The different modes are as follows:
- BCM has CTD system in a disarmed mode until these are detected: ignition is turned to OFF position, any door is open, doors are locked by either power door lock switch or LOCK button on remote transmitter.
- BCM enters a standby mode when above conditions are detected. In standby mode, BCM commands theft LED to flash rapidly. If all doors are closed and LOCK button on remote transmitter is used, BCM enters a delayed mode.
- When last door is closed, BCM enters delayed mode for 30 seconds. In delayed mode, BCM commands theft LED to illuminate on steady.
- After 30 seconds, BCM enters an armed mode. In armed mode, BCM commands theft LED to flash slowly. Any forced entry activates alarm mode.
- When BCM detects a forced entry, BCM enters alarm mode. BCM activates horns and exterior lights for 30 seconds. This is followed by a 3 minute time-out, with horn no longer active. If no new intrusions are detected after a time-out, horn is not active. CTD system must be disarmed or intrusion condition removed after time-out for system to exit alarm mode.
