10-Minute Relearn Procedure
CAUTION:
If replacing a theft deterrent control module with a GM SPO replacement part, perform procedure to setup a new theft deterrent control module prior to 10-minute relearn procedure.
Use this procedure after replacing any of these components: Pass-Key(R) III keys, theft deterrent control module or Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
- Ensure all power consuming devices are turned off.
- Using scan tool, select REQUEST INFO, under service programming system, and follow scan tool on-screen instructions.
- Disconnect scan tool from vehicle, and connect to Techline(R) terminal with current service programming system software.
- Using Techline(R) terminal, select service programming system, and follow on-screen instruction.
- Disconnect scan tool from Techline(R) terminal, and connect to vehicle.
- Using Black Pass-Key(R) III master key, turn ignition switch to RUN position.
- Using scan tool, select PROGRAM ECU under service programming system.
- Ensure scan tool is still connected to vehicle for duration of 10-minute relearn procedure.
- Observe scan tool, after 10 minutes. Scan tool will display "PROGRAMMING SUCCESSFUL, TURN IGNITION OFF". Vehicle is now ready to relearn key information and/or passwords on next ignition switch cycle from OFF to RUN positions.
- Using Black master Pass-Key(R) III, start vehicle. Theft deterrent control module has learned key transponder information, and PCM has learned fuel continue password.
NOTE:
On some vehicles, SECURITY indicator may illuminate on steady for duration of 10-minute relearn procedure.
