Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 GMC Safari and 2001 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install SDM (4) to vehicle. Install SDM mounting fasteners (1). Tighten fasteners to 106 lb in (12 N.m).
  2. Connect SDM wiring harness connector (2) to SDM (4). Push down flex lock button (3) and slide connector locking cover (4) to close position. Install connector position assurance. See Figure .
  3. Install connector position assurance (CPA) (1) to inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) wiring harness connector (2). See Figure .
  4. Install carpet retaining sill trim molding. Install driver seat.
  5. Enable SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
