Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Cadillac Seville. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The replacement (VTD) modules are manufactured to be able to learn the FIRST key that is used to start the vehicle. When learning the first key, simply insert the ignition key and turn the ignition ON. All other keys (spare keys) will need to be programmed to function with the replacement VTD module. Refer to Adding Keys (Domestic)  or Adding Keys (Export) .

  1. Remove the driver side sound insulator. Refer to CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT (LHD) or CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT (RHD) or CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - RIGHT (LHD) or CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - RIGHT (RHD) .
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the module.
  3. Move the bottom of the module (3) towards the brake pedal first and then slide down from the bracket (2).
