Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the shift lever assembly. Refer to Shift Lever Replacement .
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left or Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Right in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/T shift lock control actuator.
  4. Remove the lock control actuator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Actuator Replacement (Floor Shift) or Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Actuator Replacement (Column Shift) in Shift Lock Control.

  5. Place the lock cylinder in the OFF-LOCK position.
  6. Disconnect the linear shift assembly cable from the ignition switch.
  7. Remove the screws from the linear shift assembly.
  8. Remove the linear shift assembly from the steering column.
