Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle.

CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.




2. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor harness connector.




3. Remove the CKP sensor mounting bolt (2).
4. Remove the CKP sensor from the engine (1).
5. Inspect the CKP sensor O-ring for wear, cracks or leakage. Replace if necessary.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the CKP sensor (1) into the block.
2. Install the CKP sensor mounting bolt (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the CKP sensor mounting bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).




3. Connect the CKP sensor harness connector.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Perform the CKP system variation learn procedure. Programming and Relearning
