Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cruise control module.

  4. Open the throttle body cam slightly.
  5. Disconnect the cruise control cable from the throttle body cam lever.
  6. Remove the cruise control cable from the throttle body bracket.
  7. Remove the cruise control cable from the retainer clip on the engine.

  9. Disconnect the cruise control cable from the cruise control module by turning the cable 1/4 turn counterclockwise.
  10. Disconnect the cruise control cable slug from the ribbon buckle.
  11. Remove the cruise control cable from the engine compartment.

  13. Release the retainer strap from the cruise control module mounting bracket.

  15. Remove the cruise control module from the mounting bracket.

  17. Reposition the surge tank to access the bolts to the cruise control mounting bracket. Refer to Surge Tank Replacement (LA1) or Surge Tank Replacement (L61) in Engine Cooling.
  18. Disconnect the wiring harness from the connector and reposition the wiring harness.
  19. Remove the bolts from the cruise control mounting bracket.
  20. Remove the cruise control mounting bracket from the engine compartment.
