Inflatable Restraint Roof Side Rail Module Replacement

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.
CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution .

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  3. Remove the center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  4. Remove the rear quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  5. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  6. Lower the side of the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement .
  7. Remove the coat hook. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  8. Remove the sunshade. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
1 Inflatable Restraint Roof Side Rail Bolts Mandatory Tightening Sequence
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  9 N.m (80 lb in)

2 Inflatable Restraint Integral Retainer
3 Inflatable Restraint Roof Side Rail Module Assembly
Tip:  Disconnect the electrical connector.
