Affected Model(s): 2004 Chevrolet Optra

SERVICE INFORMATION

This bulletin is being issued to a revise an engine controls schematic in the Engine Controls - 2.0L (L34 GMDAT) sub-section of the Service Manual. Please replace the current information in the Service Manual with the following information.

The following information has been updated within SI. If you are using a paper version of this Service Manual, please make a reference to this bulletin on the affected page.

All 2004 Chevrolet Optra vehicles with the 2.0L engine have had a 5 amp fuse added in series with the CMP sensor (the CMP fuse is located under the underhood bussed electrical center). SI document ID #1376654 now shows the fuse in the engine controls schematics.

The fuse is included within the CMP voltage supply voltage circuit. The fuse will open only for a short to ground between the CMP sensor and the fuse, or an internal CMP sensor short.

The purpose of the fuse is for preventing the CMP sensor from overheating by limiting the current that would flow through an internally shorted CMP sensor.
