Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 GMC Yukon XL, 2004 GMC Yukon, 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the upper control arm.
  2. Fig 1: Upper Control Arm, Nuts, Bolts & Adjustment Cams (25/35 Series 4WD)

  3. Install the upper control arm bolts (4) for the 25/35 Series 4WD.
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the upper control arm nuts and the adjustment cams (2) 25/35 Series 4WD.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 190 N.m (140 lb ft).

  7. Install the upper control arm bolts (4) for the 15 Series 2WD, 4WD, and 25/35 Series 2WD.
  8. Install the upper control arm nuts and the adjustment cams (2) for the 15 Series 2WD, 4WD, and 25/35 Series 2WD.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 190 N.m (140 lb ft).

  9. Connect the upper control arm to the steering knuckle.
  10. Install the wheel drive shaft. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.

  12. Install the new nut to the upper ball joint stud.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  14. Install the retaining bolts for the brake hose and wheel speed sensor brackets.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  15. Connect the ESC link rod to the sensor, if equipped. Refer to Front Position Sensor Link Assembly Replacement - Electronic Suspension in Electronic Suspension Control.
  16. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  17. Remove the safety stands.
  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Verify the wheel alignment. Refer to Measuring Wheel Alignment (w/Rear Wheel Steering) or Measuring Wheel Alignment (w/o Rear Wheel Steering) in Wheel Alignment.
