Alignment Checking

Use a measuring tram gauge in order to accurately determine the alignment of the underbody. Use a tram gauge set which includes a vertical pointer capable of reaching 914 mm (36 inches).

Tram gauges measure the following 2 types of measurements:

Datum line measurements are measurements calculated on a horizontal plane parallel to the underbody.

Point-to-point measurements are generally taken on the front structure steering and suspension components. Point-to-point measurements require equally-set vertical pointers. In some cases, take point-to-point measurements with a tape measure or appropriate measuring tool, as needed.

Dimensions-to-gauge holes are measured to the leading edge or center of the holes and flush to the adjacent surface metal. Refer to Dimensions - Body  or Measurements - Underbody  .
