Installation Procedure

  1. Feed the cable assembly through the drivers floor opening.
  2. Fig 1: Locating Floor Pan Grommet & Mounting Nuts

  3. Install the grommet (1) flush with the floor opening.
  4. Install the drivers side front carpet. Refer to Carpet Replacement in Interior Trim.
  5. Install the left instrument panel closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  6. Raise the vehicle.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  8. Install the shift cable attachment nut to the underbody.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Install the shift cables (2) to the transmission cable bracket.

  12. Connect the shift cable ends (1) to the transmission shift levers as noted during disassembly.
  13. Connect the shift cable to the shift control assembly as noted during disassembly.

  15. Push the shifter 4th gear locking tab.
  16. Ensure that the transmission is in 4th gear.

  18. Press down on the locking tabs.
  19. Pull the shifter 4th gear lock clip to its original position.
  20. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
