Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in Cautions and Notices.
    IMPORTANT: In the event a deployment has occurred, refer to Repairs and Inspections Required After a Collision .
    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 .
  2. Fig 1: Removing I/P Compartment Bin Fasteners

  3. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  4. Disconnect the SIR system from the vehicle wire harness at the yellow 2-way connector.

  6. Remove the fasteners securing the SIR to the I/P support beam.
  7. Push the SIR rearward and rotate the round end downward.
  8. Remove the SIR from the vehicle through the opening in the I/P compartment.
