Circuit/System Testing

  1. Install a scan tool, turn ignition ON, with the engine OFF. Observe the status of DTC B3100. If the DTC is not current, test for intermittent conditions and poor connections.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition, disconnect the electrical connector from the RCDLR. Connect a DMM from the keyless entry serial data circuit to a good ground. Turn ON the ignition, observe the voltage. Specification: battery voltage.
    • If battery voltage is not present, test the keyless entry serial data circuit for a short to ground. Correct the problem.
    • If a problem was not found and corrected, inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the RCDLR. Correct the problem.
    • If a problem was not found and corrected, replace the BCM. Clear codes, verify the repair.
    • If battery voltage is present, inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the RCDLR. Correct the problem.
    • If a problem was not found and corrected, replace the RCDLR. Clear codes, verify the repair.
