Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement

Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement

Callout Component Name
WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning .

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the right windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement .
  3. Loosen the front passenger side of the instrument panel (I/P) upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
1 Insulator/Closeout Panel Retainer (Qty: 2)
2 Insulator/Closeout Panel Assembly
3 I/P Compartment Dampener Screw
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Tighten 
3 N.m (25 lb in)
4 I/P Compartment Assembly
5 I/P Accessory Trim Plate
TIP:  Disconnect the electrical connector.
6 I/P Inflatable Restraint Module Nut (Qty: 2)
Tighten 
10 N.m (89 lb in)
7 I/P Inflatable Restraint Module

Procedure

  1. To release the I/P inflatable restraint door from the upper trim panel, push in on the tabs to separate the module door from the trim panel.
  2. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  4. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required period. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping .
